hi, I do not know, if you know the game: The Typing of the Dead.
it is a remade version of a 3D bloody shooting game, where you
have to shoot zombies.

BUT, you shoot with the touchtyping. So, every monster that goes on you has a word or a sentence on his body and you have to write it down.

I bought that game and really makes me write faster and faster.

Just out of curiosity, where did you get the game from? It seems rare and is going for huge prices on Amazon. Is there anywhere to download it for free? I suppose that only the demo is free. Oh well.

You can download the game from http://www.mininova.org/tor/224845. The full version. I got my version somewhere else. Can't remember...

Wow, this is dradest way to improve your typing. KAZZOOOGAH! I'm already up to 6 wmp in game! I type closer to 35 wmp when I know what I'm going to type. But this game teaches you to type as soon as the word hit's your brain. The game is allso hillarious. The words arn't entirly random, the come in groups.

Once set of zombies was: Brie, Gorgonzola, Cheedar. Well you get the idea.

Nothing teaches you to type faster than getting impaled by an evil fish zobie for being a touch too slow.

Unfortunatley the game is out of production so you can only find it used.

Nonsequitor;) There's a nifty program called shareaza ("http://www.shareaza.com/") which links to the p2p networks and handles torrents to boot. Shareaza is open source so you needent worry about malware (from the program it's self, the programs you get may be another story). Mininova is a goot place to look for torrents.

PS: If you manage to buy a uesd copy of the game, you'll mostlikely need a couple patches. The ATI video patch worked on my laptop which uses an vedia graphics card (TotD didn't run without the patch).

I found the video patch on the producers site at:
http://support.empireinteractive.com/default.aspx?MID=60568495217F&PID =270D9620-0E44-495A-B407-E690E6B1B361
(you'll need to disable addblocking to download the file)
Also if you wan't to run the program without keeping the CD in your drive (a must for laptops), you'll need a "no_cd" patch too.

Have fun!

--If you haven't already, learn the Dvorak layout. It's more comfortable and let's you maintain your top speed for longer periods of time (but doesn't wrok with Typing of the Dead, QWERTY UK and US only). And if speed is really important, learn Gregg shorthand.

A follow up to my previous post...

I've recently obtained a copy of the game, Typing of the Dead. It's quite a fun little game, though doesn't prove much of a challenge for me, even on the most difficult setting, until the last level, when it gets quite daunting! Either way, it's fun, and it's a good way to practice typing accuracy and speed.

Hmm, I don't think so, I've been looking for a German version too, but didn't find anything. The only problem with a German keyboard layout is, that the AltGr-key doesn't work and you've got to use Strg+Alt instead and, well, you've got to type English words ;p. But I would really appreciate it, if someone could make a Mod for it, so that the tutorials wouldn't be for the English keyboard-layout only. I want to learn the Neo keyboard layout, but therefore, the tutorial is rather useless. The same would be for Dvorak.

I bought this game forever ago because it's so darn cool.

Typing of the Dead 2 will be coming out soon, hopefully it'll support dvorak.

Does anyone know of a remapping software that may allow me to remap my keys so that I can play Typing of the Dead with dvorak?

That would have been a very useful tool when I was first learning it, but now I just want to play it because it's fun.
