Hey..
For some reason, my umlauts and ß stop working regularily. Usually, those keys still work when I begin typing, but after a while they just stop working in the applett... This really, really sucks when you notice all the words containing those characters are wrong and you were just doing really good...:(
I'm using Linux, tested it with firefox and epiphany (both gecko browsers and very similar..) The jdk on my system is "blackdown", but no idea what that means...

Hi
I've the same problems. Typing the umlauts on german keyboard has no effect. When finishing the word its wrong (colored red, missing all umlauts in it). Why can't this be repaired sometime? Could someone send me the part of the applet where the encoding is made? This cannot be too difficult.
Cheers, Maddin

Java doesn't encode things right if your system settings are wrong. Where and how to set your language depends on the Linux distribution you use. You should set the LANG, or LC_CTYPE environment variable to something useful, such as "de" or "de_DE" or "de_AT".
